Utility tariff

The filed set of rates, terms, and conditions under which a utility provides service, including interconnection, net metering, and rate schedules.

Why it matters

Tariffs are the controlling document for utility questions: what interconnection requires, what
export credits are worth, what rates apply to EV charging or storage, and what fees attach. They
are approved by the state public utility commission and change over time.

What to check

The current filed tariff for the utility serving the property, the applicable rate schedule, and
the program terms and dates in effect.

Jurisdictional variation

Tariffs differ by utility and state, and are periodically revised; the filed version in effect
controls over older summaries.
